EMBOSS is the "European Molecular Biology Open Software Suite" a molecular biology analysis software collection including sequence data translation and retrieval, sequence alignment, enzyme kinetics, phylogeny, structural analysis, database searching of sequence patterns, protein motif identification including domain analysis, nucleotide sequence pattern analysis, codon usage analysis for small genomes, rapid identification of sequence patterns in large-scale sequence sets, presentation tools for publication and many others. The EMBASSY suite includes related add-on packages to EMBOSS (such as PHYLIP, described below) for domain searches, phylogeny analysis and more.
