Grid Free

Grid Free is a simulation package developed at Delta HPC for unsteady, incompressible, high Reynolds number flows. The solver is based on the Lagrangian vortex element method used for the grid-free solution of the Navier-Stokes equations, providing advantages over more commonly used grid-based methodologies. These advantages include a parallelized adaptive fast tree-code algorithm for vertical velocity evaluation, a parallelized flow-domain velocity evaluation for irrotational velocity and two alternative diffusion solvers based on parallel versions of the Vortex Redistribution and Random Walk methods, the former being used for the accurate computation of the diffusion process for lower Reynolds number flows.
